Erin Tucker was named assistant coach of the University of Illinois "Fighting Illini" men's
track team in July, 2000. Before that, he volunteered as an assistant coach for the University of Florida. Back in high school, we know Erin was THE MAN, running on two national championship winning relay teams (the 1993 4x200m and 1994 4x400m), and playing on the varsity football squad.
Success followed Erin to the University of Florida. There he was a four time SEC champion, and earned eight letter awards. Erin was also a six-time All-American and All-SEC selection, and two-time Academic All-SEC pick.
Erin also pledged Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., Omicron Zeta Chapter, and was active in student government. He was also elected to the University of Florida Hall of Fame in 1998, and is listed in Who's Who Among American Colleges and University for 1998.
His boss, Illini men's track and field coach Gary Wieneke, said this about Erin :"We feel fortunate to have hired someone that is widely considered one of the best up-and-coming coaches in America."
